With learning management system integrations in place to drive strong response rates, and Course Evaluations & Surveys' responsive design that makes it easy to use in mobile browsers without an app, the vast majority of students and instructors now engage with Course Evaluations & Surveys's surveys and results through their LMS or through the web browsers on their computers or mobile devices.
In light of this very low usage, we've decided to retire the Course Evaluations & Surveys mobile apps. On Wednesday, March 17, 2021 we will remove these apps from the Apple and Google Play app stores and retire the related functionality from Course Evaluations & Surveys, as noted below.
We know that in the past some of your users have utilized these mobile apps. We wanted to provide this notice and explanation to help you prepare for their retirement and the shift toward use of regular mobile browsers. Please find more details below about what you and your users will experience with this change, and some actions you may need to take to remove references to these mobile apps in your email notifications and help materials.
- The apps will no longer be available in the Google Play and Apple app stores.
- Users who already downloaded the apps will find that they no longer work - they can remove them from their devices.
- The “Mobile Login URL”, “Mobile User Token”, and “Mobile App URLs” placeholders will no longer be available to add to new email notifications for your survey projects, and will no longer work in emails to which they’ve already been added. Please review and remove these placeholders and related instructional text from any emails you have pending for active or upcoming survey projects.
- You will no longer see the option to configure mobile push notifications for a survey project.
- The Mobile Use Reporting area will be removed, along with it’s two reports: Mobile Survey Responses and Mobile App Subscribers.
- Please also review any help resources or webpages you’ve created for your users to remove any references to these mobile apps. Instead, you may want to encourage users to access surveys and results through your LMS, or if you prefer to have them access Course Evaluations & Surveys directly, you could encourage them to save the site itself as a shortcut on their mobile device for quick access to course evaluations. Course Evaluations & Surveys’s responsive design will continue to ensure a good user experience on mobile devices.
Thank you for working with us through this change.
