Blackboard Ultra Data Integration

EvaluationKIT offers a variety of integration features for Blackboard Learn customers that can both streamline your operational process and provide easy access for users within Blackboard, which together can facilitate your course evaluation and survey process. This article provides instructions on how to set up the EvaluationKIT Data Integration.


EvaluationKIT’s Data Integration functionality for Blackboard Learn version Q2 2017 and above as well as SaaS includes:
  1. Data Integration Features: Allows EvaluationKIT Administrators to search and select the Blackboard courses as well as the students, instructors and teaching assistants enrolled in those courses to be included in an EvaluationKIT Project, then securely import your selected courses and enrollments into your EvaluationKIT project.
  2. Student, Instructor and Teaching Assistant Enrollment Refresh Feature: Allows refreshes to be scheduled to automatically update enrollments to courses within your EvaluationKIT projects, to reflect any enrollments added or dropped in Blackboard.
  3. Gradebook Survey Points Feature: Allows either Blackboard Administrators or Instructors to assign a specific number of points for completed surveys, and then automatically have a Gradebook item generated (Column name is EK Course Evaluation) along with the corresponding points added for each student who has completed a specified survey.

INSTALLATION AND SETUP INSTRUCTIONS FOR DATA INTEGRATION FEATURES

EvaluationKIT Integration Setup in Blackboard

As a Blackboard Administrator, log in to your instance of Blackboard and complete the following:
  1. Create a designated Blackboard Administrator, which will be associated to the integration. Below are the minimum permissions needed for a custom admin system role for Data Integration to work:
    1. Administrator Panel (Courses) > Courses
    2. Administrator Panel (Courses) > Courses > Available/Unavailable 
    3. Administrator Panel (Courses) > Courses > Edit > Course Properties
    4. Administrator Panel (Courses) > Courses > Edit > Enrollments > Add Enrollment
    5. Administrator Panel (Courses) > Terms
    6. Administrator Panel (Integrations) > Web Services
    7. Administrator Panel (Tools and Utilities) > System Reporting > Data Sources
    8. Administrator Panel (Users) > Institution Roles
    9. Administrator Panel (Users) > Users
    10. Administrator Panel (Users) > Users > Available / Unavailable
    11. Administrator Panel (Users) > Users > Edit > View Course Enrollments
    12. Course/Organization > Groups > View All Groups
    13. Course/Organization Control Panel (Grade Center) > Full Control
    14. User management by Web Services
  2. Navigate to System Admin > Integrations (section) > REST API Integrations.



  3. Select Create Integration.

    1. Application ID: Copy and paste the following Application ID into this field:
      1. 84c9098b-45f4-40e7-b09b-90be0b771a2a
    2. Learn User: Click Browse and select the Blackboard Administrator account or enter the username of the Blackboard Administrator you created for these integration purposes.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. Name the integration (I.e. EvaluationKIT).
  6. Click Submit.

Next, log in to your EvaluationKIT Account as the EvaluationKIT Administrator and go to Account > Integrations (section) > Blackboard > Data Integration (tab) to configure the Connection Settings:

  1. Blackboard Site Name: This is any name you want to assign to your instance of Bb Learn to identify it (e.g., Bb Learn Production or Bb Learn QA).
  2. Blackboard Site Version: Select the correct version from the dropdown.
  3. Blackboard Site Address: Enter the URL for your instance of Blackboard.
  4. REST API Authentication: Will be selected by default.
  5. REST API Key: Contact eksupport@watermarkinsights.com to configure and enable this part of the integration.
  6. REST API Secret: Contact eksupport@watermarkinsights.com to configure and enable this part of the integration.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Click Test Connection: You should receive a Test Passed message at the bottom of the screen, if all is configured properly. If you receive a Test Failed message, review your configuration steps above and if you are unable to resolve, contact eksupport@watermarkinsights.com.
